Going the extra mile.......(part 1)

Going the extra mile.......(part 1)

I am fast approaching five months with kdm, and am thoroughly enjoying my time here. The team have been so welcoming and helpful, and I have learnt so much since joining.

Unusually for me, I have, along with three other kdm colleagues, decided to take part in the extra mile challenge – a 500-mile relay cycling challenge across France, Germany and Belgium over 3 days in September 2010, all in the name of some great charities.

Why is this unusual for me? Well I don’t exercise regularly (ahem, who am I kidding, I don’t exercise full stop) and am not a fan of the great outdoors. So why, you might ask, am I doing it? Firstly, all funds raised by kdm will go to some amazing charities; Great Ormond Street Hospital to name but one. Secondly, the challenge gives me the opportunity to get fit. And finally, I know this challenge will take me completely out of my comfort zone, so I thought it was important to go for it.

Surprisingly, I have got quite stuck in to training already! I started two weeks ago, and try to train at least four times a week in my local park. My next hurdle is to get out on the roads and up some steep hills – something I am not looking forward to!

We want to raise as much as we possibly can for the charities, and we would of course be delighted if you could make a contribution. To donate, go to: here.

Before I end, I wanted to wish kdm good luck at the FSB Bedfordshire Small Business Awards 2010, which take place on Thursday evening! I’m sure one of the team will be blogging about it soon. Good luck also to Paul (see last blog entry) who gets married on Saturday – we all hope he has the perfect day!
